How does ID Doctor work?

ID Doctor operates just like a medical doctor. Once you are a member, you can begin to secure your business by completing the following four actions:

Action One: ID Exam

Much like a new patient in a doctor’s office completes a physical exam; a new ID Doctor member will complete the information Compliance and Awareness Process (iCAP) to determine identity theft issues that challenge the health and stability of their workplace. By working through iCAP, the new member will:

  • Investigate Identity Theft, Fraud, and Information Security Concerns (Overview)
  • Establish Roles and Responsibilities
  • Define Confidential and Sensitive Information (CSI) and Information Systems
  • Take Inventory of Information Assets
  • Assess Risks to Information Systems
  • Design an Identity Theft Prevention Policy
  • Implement Security Measures (Overview)
  • Monitor, Evaluate, and Enforce Identity Theft Prevention Program (Overview)

Action Two: ID Rx

When doctors find health concerns with patients, they may prescribe medication or refer to another professional. ID Doctor works in the same fashion. Some identity theft risks that are identified through the information Compliance and Awareness Process (iCAP) may not be remedied with policy and training alone. In these cases, the ID Rx is an on-line resource and referral center for applicable products, services, and professionals.

Action Three: ID Pulse

To keep current on the law, best practices, news, products and services, members rely on ID Pulse. ID Pulse is an electronic newsletter and briefing component of the ID Doctor Membership.

Action Four: ID Checkup

To maintain a clean bill of health, members must complete an annual assessment. The ID Checkup is an on-line checkup that asks a member a series of questions to determine how effective their Identity Theft Prevention Program has been over the course of the past year. When it comes to identity theft compliance, this is a common requirement.
